Second Life Travels: Pont Mirabeau in Silverplate Photography

There is no better way to appreciate the incomparable beauty of Paris than by a walk alongside the quays, over the many bridges, and over the islands of the city's main waterway, the River Seine. Pont Mirabeau, a stunning retail destination allows the visitor to do this virtually.  Masses of buildings constructed in the Second Empire architectural style (1865 - 1880), which the popular imagination most associates with Paris, line the central waterway -  the effect is powerful and very convincing. As soon as I arrived at this destination, I immediately knew what effect the builder was trying to create here -- fashionable and chic Paris immortalized as the City of Light.  Anyone who is interested in great Second Life architecture and sim design would appreciate a visit.

Saturday, November 26, 2016. Ryce's Michigan Wolverines Have a Date With Destiny in Columbus, Ohio

The University of Michigan Wolverines Play the Ohio State Buckeyes in College Football

Just in case you do not follow sports in the U.S.A. this is the biggest sporting event of college football regular season -- a clash between two bitter rivals who rank #2 and #3 out of the 128 schools in that play for the national football championship in January. Only the winner of this game will have a shot at the national championship.

These two universities have met a total of 112 times, the first time being in 1897. It is so famous that it is simply known as "The Game".  It is the most widely viewed sporting event on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the date on which is is held in recent time, usually at 12:00 noon EST on the ABC network. ESPN Sports Network ranked it as the greatest North American sports rivalry in the year 2000.

Michigan is not favored to win this year. Their starting quarterback for the year, Wilton Speight, is injured -- and although he may play for part of the game, their backup quarterback simply does not have the experience. In addition, the game is at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The home team in the series always has an advantage.

Ryce still believes his Michigan Wolverines can win. In fact, he did warm up at Texas A&M's campus in Second Life today -- perhaps hoping they can call on him to fill in. Well, in his dreams maybe!

Go Blue!  Beat Ohio State!

Second Life Travels: Yasminia Watercolors in the Style of Vincent Van Gogh

I found Yasminia, a particularly well designed mountain lakes region that reminded me of Indian Summer in Northern New England, particularly in the mountainous areas of New Hampshire and Maine.  In fact, this had to be one of the most evocative and timely November locations I have seen in Second Life for this exact time of year. The setting sun and clouds casting reflections on the cool expansive lake reminded me of the scenery around Lake Winnipesaukee, a particularly attractive area in the rugged granite state.

I am not quite sure how I managed to achieve a Van Gogh effect with there digital images. Call it luck.   These watercolors were processed using free Fotosketcher software. To find out how I did this:
